In the southern village of Europe, next to the “tonnara” of Portopalo (Sicily) there is a strange abandoned building, known as “Tafuri Castle”.
Besides its japanese-like name, the Castle has been build in the 30es according to the tastes of the Sicilian marquis Bruno di Belmonte who ceased the property to the Tafuri family a few years later. The project was to make a luxury resort out of it but what happened next is hard to discover; probably the family couldn’t afford the maintenance costs of such a building, and none of the heirs took on himself any initiative.
What you can see now is an open gate, broken doors, crushed windows and all through the castle traces of squatting and vandalism, a lot of spray paint and a few mummified mice.

And how can that be?
